Kelly Lucy Villa, RN, CNM My passion for birth and working with birthing women started with the birth of my first child and has grown and matured since then. After obtaining certification as a Doula through DONA International, I provided support for pregnant, birthing, and postpartum families for over 5 years. At that time, I felt a calling to go to the next level. While putting my doula work on hold, I completed my Master’s degree in Nursing at Marquette University with a concentration in Nurse-Midwifery in May 2008. During that time, I worked at the Aurora Women’s Pavilion at West Allis as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery. While my heart was often torn at the medical nature of childbirth in the hospital setting, I sought to give women the most compassionate, empowering care possible. At this time of making the transition from nurse to nurse-midwife, I embrace the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with newborn families in their homes. I bring a unique combination of skills that includes the compassion and support of a doula; the practical know-how of the nurse; and the overall vision of the nurse-midwife. In addition, my years as a Leader for La Leche League guide me in providing breastfeeding support and assistance. My own experience in birthing and raising four children gives me not only the understanding of one who’s “been there too”, but also the practical ability to provide household services while caring for young children. Through all my education and experiences runs the philosophy that each woman instinctively knows what is best for herself and her family. I trust the process of birth and integration of the newest member of the family, which proceed naturally when given the right support. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and to provide care for you and your new family. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Ph: 414-531-2273
