Hi, I am LaNette McQuitty, CPM, LM, and I am so happy to be here. I have just completed a highly rewarding and blessed journey to become a midwife. I am now excited and proud to be able to serve you as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM).
When Wisconsin began offering state licensure for midwifery in 2007, I immediately began the process to meet my longtime aspiration of assisting birthing families in their homes. My journey really started, though, years ago when I began supporting growing families as a Doula and Childbirth Educator. I have worked with hundreds of Milwaukee area families as a Doula and educator since 1980.
In 2008, I dual enrolled in The National College of Midwifery, Taos, New Mexico and the Midwest Maternal Child Institute, Chicago, IL. In spring of 2009 I completed a residency program living and working as a midwife with the tribes of Malawi Africa. After returning home from that life changing experience, I began a six month apprenticeship, working with a Homebirth Certified Nurse Midwife in Illinois.
In February 2010, I earned my Associate of Science in Midwifery Degree and sat for the NARM exam. I received my CPM in February 2010 and was licensed by the State of Wisconsin in April of 2010.
It has been an amazing couple of years as I navigated the path to becoming a CPM. Though, the letters behind my name have changed, my belief that birth is a natural, normal and healthy life event, is stronger than ever!
I firmly believe that birth is a family centered event and birthing at home allows families to bond in quiet and delight. I continue to be profoundly aware of the power of women, the transformations that birth brings to families and that births are, unquestionably, the most intimate yet empowering moments in life.
My goals also remain the same.
- I seek to care for and support expectant families that choose to birth outside of the hospital setting. I strive to provide exceptional skilled prenatal care with patience, warmth and respect. Moms, you will be treated like a queen!
- I want to strengthen confidence in women with their ability to birth, breastfeed and nurture their babies.
- I will work to ensure that women continue to have choices regarding their births.
Please call me if you would like to discuss your birth options and how I can serve you as a Certified Professional Midwife.
Meet my assistant: Jessica Martin, RN

A native of Wisconsin, Jessica grew up in Wauwatosa. Some of the core values her mother raised her with was serving the community and being an active participant in life. You may run into her around town with her kids or at any of the German festivals in full costume.
In January of 2005 Jessica earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Jessica has lots of experience caring for both newborns and moms.
A birth assistant to LaNette McQuitty (CPM), Jessica is also available as a postpartum doula (mother's helper) and a perinatal loss doula. Her services range from simple household help (ex. vacuuming, laundry) to assisting you with all levels of baby care (ex. basic care, phototherapy/jaundice, special needs). A breastfeeding advocate, Jessica has had special training in breastfeeding and is experienced at helping moms get breastfeeding off to a good start. As a perinatal loss doula, Jessica can explain the process, watch your other children, give emotional support to mom and family, and help collect mementos like photographs and footprints. Jessica has helped dozens of families in this way.
Jessica and her husband are raising their two sons, not to mention a very large bunny, in Waukesha. In her free time, Jessica has founded and is a co-leader of a local moms' group. She is also a long time active member of La Leche League, and is an active member of a farm co-op.
Jessica is certified in CPR and neonatal resuscitation (NRP). She is currently working toward becoming an IBCLC (lactation consultant).
