About / Bio
Labor and birth is, for most people, a transformative experience. For the birthing individual, and their partner/family, birth creates a memory that resides, often for a lifetime, deep within one’s heart and fibers of one’s soul.
How an individual labors can impact a baby’s transition, and it affects the laboring person’s physical and emotional wellbeing during the immediate post partum period – and, in some cases, for many years to come.
The positive impact of skilled labor/doula support on birth outcomes in all these areas, combined with a commitment to the normalization of labor and birth, underlie my interest in birth work. I believe that birth is a normal process that in most cases does not require medical intervention. When intervention is necessary, it’s my experience that judicious use of medical assistance/intervention, informed consent on the part of the birthing individual, ample physical and emotional support and, when possible, plenty of time to consider the risks, benefits and alternatives to intervention, lead to the most-healthy outcomes.
Our bodies are made to birth and, whatever your birth plan, it would be my privilege to work with you and your partner/family to assist you in achieving your goals during labor and the birth of your baby!
I began working as a birth doula in 2010 following the birth of my youngest child, and am currently in the final stages of training to become a Certified Professional Midwife, dual-enrolled in Midwest Maternal Child Institute and National College of Midwifery. I have worked as an assistant to three homebirth midwives and attended numerous births in Milwaukee and Chicago area hospitals, as well as out-of-hospital (home and birth center) settings. In addition to birth doula services, I offer post partum doula care, peer lactation support, placenta encapsulation and prints, and I especially enjoy connecting with families across a diverse set of communities.
Please feel free to learn more about my birth doula services at: , If you have additional questions or would like to discuss your needs, I am happy to arrange a no obligation consult to talk further.
However you move forward, I wish you your best, most peaceful and fun, birth possible!
